Fall Break in the Mountains

October 22, 2018

Last week, my family and I traveled to the mountains of Arkansas for fall break! My husband and I both grew up in Arkansas, and we have family near beautiful Petit Jean State Park, so we sometimes escape here to a cabin in the woods to get back to nature.

We (my husband, our two boys, our dog Elsa, and I) hiked two miles to the majestic, 95-foot Cedar Falls (scroll down to see!), and we also climbed on the Turtle Rocks and explored Rockhouse Cave, which is large enough for my boys to run around in. Who knew that our dog Elsa is a trail dog at heart? She surprised us by scrambling up rocks and the muddy trails like a mountain goat!

I wish our trip had been longer, but we had a great time exploring the trails, relaxing in our tiny cabin by the fire, and taking a break (sort of) from technology. I always love getting the chance to photograph my family just for fun, and I’ve included some of the photos below.

I hope you had a chance to get away on a fall adventure, or that you have one coming up soon! Resting and playing are such an important part of life, and we all need to make time for it. I really believe it makes us more productive and happy in the long run. 🙂

Here’s a look at our Petit Jean State Park getaway:
