Abby’s Bat Mitzvah party at City Winery in Nashville was full of dancing, joy and laughter – such a fun night!

I’ve been photographing bat mitzvahs and bar mitzvahs along with weddings, and I’m in love with these coming-of-age stories.

In a nutshell, a bat mitzvah is the time when a Jewish girl becomes an adult in the eyes of the Jewish community. It means she is ready to accept life’s opportunities and responsibilities, and it’s usually marked with a sacred ceremony followed by a celebration that’s often as big as a wedding.

I’ve known Abby and her family since she was just two years old, so it was even more poignant for me to be photographing this important day for her family to remember forever.
