What Is a Bridal Session, and Should You Have One?

June 14, 2017

A bridal portrait session is a separate photo session (held about a month before your wedding) that is just for YOU to have portraits in your bridal gown without the time constraints of the wedding day.

While we absolutely do bridal portraits on your wedding day, there are typically only 15 or 20 minutes AT MOST for pictures of the bride alone on the day of the wedding. If you want plenty of time to take portraits in your wedding gown, with different poses and options and without being rushed, a bridal session would be perfect for you!

My bridal portrait sessions include up to two hours of shooting, and they can be done indoors or outdoors, or a combination of both! This is a relaxed, fun time that allows you to model your gown, have different “poses” and lighting, lots of detail shots of your dress and veil, time to play and twirl around, and it’s a great time to do a test run on your hair and makeup while also practicing moving around in your dress.
Many brides bring their mothers along and make it a fun girls’ day – hair and makeup first, followed by the portrait session and then dinner out together. (Champagne, mimosas or wine are welcome during the session – whatever works for you!)
From your session you receive digital files and a large print of your choice, along with a gorgeous small album of pictures. Some brides get the print framed to display at their wedding reception.
If this sounds like something you’d like to do, let’s talk! These are seriously so much fun, and you’ll have the album to pass down to your children and grandchildren!
