Balmy temperatures and spring sunshine made yesterday’s Westmeade Dragon Dash even more of a blast than usual!
The Dragon Dash is my children’s elementary school’s largest fundraiser and fun run, and this year Rebecca Denton Photography was one of the official sponsors. As part of my effort to give back to the community through photography, I photographed the event, which included a kick-off parade of students led by Jesse Register, director of Metro Nashville Public Schools; Amy Frogge, our district’s school board member; and Stephen Breese, Westmeade Elementary School’s principal. Also attending were TSU football players and Hillwood High School cheerleaders – all making for an exciting and festive day!
I got so many great action shots of the kids, but I can’t post them here just yet because I need parental consent. In the meantime, I’m posting some shots that don’t include closeups of recognizable children (except one of my own). 🙂
Jennifer Ruben, Westmeade’s PTA president, did an amazing job organizing and publicizing this event, which raised close to $10,000 for the school. Great job, Jennifer – and thanks to all the parents and businesses who volunteered, attended, and donated.
The Dragon Dash helps promote health and fitness while fostering community involvement- and it’s also just a fun event for the kids that has grown a ton in recent years. Here are a few of the photos I can show you right (until I get some permission to show the adorable faces of the students)….
