Nashville Engagement: Lauren + William

January 27, 2016

Lauren and William’s Nashville engagement photography session showcases the cool vibe of downtown Nashville, from the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge and Batman building views to the bustling streets of Broadway and the cozy warmth of Bongo Java Coffee shop.

It was here in Nashville – on a bench on the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge, overlooking the Nashville skyline – that William proposed to Lauren one cold night after dinner.

The two had met months before at a friend’s wedding in Baltimore. They felt a spark immediately, and their relationship quickly blossomed despite long distance between them. William lived in Memphis, and Lauren lived in New York City, but they knew they had something special.

Says Lauren:
“We’re total opposites personality wise: He’s a reserved listener, and I’m a super loud extrovert. But the way we think – the way we treat others, our morals, our values – are incredibly aligned. William’s happy place is duck hunting in the middle of the woods in Arkansas; mine is NYC. The important thing is that we’re willing and excited to share in these special moments with each other: I’ll go duck hunting and he’ll ride the subway like a local.”

Lauren and William will be married in June in downtown Nashville, and I’m so excited to be their wedding photographer!

For their engagement photos, Lauren really wanted the timeless look of an urban setting, and downtown Nashville was also meaningful to them because it’s where William proposed – and where they’ll be getting married.

Lauren wanted the photos to really represent where they are in their lives, right now.

“I feel like we’ve come so far as a couple (being long distance to the same city, grad school to working life, etc.),” Lauren said. “I’d love the pictures to capture where we are now, so when we look back years later, we can remember the details of then and appreciate where we are at that moment, how much we’ve grown since the pictures were taken.”

Take a look through William and Lauren’s engagement photography story – a fun and chilly morning strolling around Nashville, with a short stop for coffee so they could warm up before heading back out.

Thank you, William and Lauren! I can’t wait for your big day!
